Piecemakers

       St. John's has a group of ladies who meet on the third Tuesday of each month, excluding December, during the hours of 9 am and 8 pm.  We welcome anyone who would like to assist us.

       This group assembles knotted quilts and a variety of kits for Lutheran World Relief.  Our current goal is 100 quilts, plus any kits, all of which are delivered to St. John's in Bloomington in the latter part of October to begin their journey to God's people in need.  We usually display the items for Lutheran World Relief in the sanctuary of the church during our annual Chicken Noodle Dinner on the weekend prior to delivery.

       In addition, we support a mission in Springfield, Il., with household items, clothes, baby layettes, baby quilts.  We usually have a special project each year for their benefit.  In the past, we have collected new, used, or handmade socks and underwear, hats, scarves, gloves, and mittens.  This year, our special collection project is household linens.  We usually take these items to Springfield around Thanksgiving time.
