Joe Cardoni

Joe Cardoni, 88, of Mount Pulaski died Tuesday (Feb. 24, 2004) at 8:10 a.m. at his home.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mount Pulaski, following the rosary at 3:30 p.m.

His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church of Mount Pulaski, with Father Thomas Shaw officiating. Military rites will be provided by Mount Pulaski Legion 447.

Burial will be in Mount Pulaski Cemetery.

Mr. Cardoni was a retired farmer and an employee of Stahl's Furniture, Mount Pulaski.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

He was born Oct. 23, 1915, at Riverton to John and Frances Bernardini Cardoni. He married Louise Shanle on Dec. 26, 1942, at Camp McCoy, Wis.

He is survived by his wife, of Mount Pulaski; two sons, Ken (and Gail) Cardoni of Chatham and Bob (and Lea) Cardoni of New London, Iowa; three daughters, Linda (and Robert) VanHook of Warrensburg, Judy (and Gary) Baker of Sherman and Deb Cardoni of Milwaukee, Wis.; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one sister, Susie Grigiski of Brookfield.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.

He was a member of Mount Pulaski St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, Mount Pulaski Legion Post 447, Riverton Knights of Columbus, the former Riverton Athletic Club and Logan County Farm Bureau.

Memorials may be made to St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, the Mount Pulaski American Legion or the American Cancer Society.
