Judith H. Barner
DECATUR - Judith H. Barner, 80, of Peoria, formerly of Decatur and Mount Pulaski, died 12:30 a.m. Wednesday (Feb. 9, 2005) in her home. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home, Mount Pulaski, with the Rev. Charles Watkins officiating. Visitation: one hour before services. Burial: Mount Pulaski Cemetery. Memorials: Cancer Care Specialists of Decatur Charitable Fund. Mrs. Barner was born Jan. 24, 1925, in Mount Pulaski, the daughter of Albert and Georgia Harbert Horn. She retired in 1987 from A.E. Staley Mfg. Co., where she held a variety of positions ranging from secretary to managing facility start ups and employment specialist. She was affiliated with Central Christian Church. She was past president of American Association University Women and co-owner of Apple Barn's Antiques with her dear friends Ann Shellabarger, Mary Martha Messmore and Betty Thurn. She was also past president of Lady Landowners, secretary/ treasurer of Zonta Women's Club and member of a local investment club, antique doll club, bridge club and china painters club. She was a local election judge for many years. She married John N. Barner on June 19, 1948, in Mount Pulaski. Surviving are her husband; daughter, Susan (Gene) Walker of Dunlap; brother, James A. (Joyce) Horn of Mercer Island, Wash.; granddaughters, Kimberly and Tracy Walker, both of Dunlap. She was preceded in death by her parents.
