MOUNT PULASKI -- Irene J. Davis, 79, of Mount Pulaski, died Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2004, at 8:45 a.m. at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Lincoln.

Her funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Zion Lutheran Church in Mount Pulaski, with the Rev. Paul Droegemueller officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service.

Burial will be in Mount Pulaski Cemetery.

Mrs. Davis was a homemaker for her family.

She was born Aug. 17, 1925, in Mount Pulaski Township to Arthur and Ella Alwerdt Marten. She married Mayford L. Davis in Mount Pulaski on Oct. 3, 1943. He died June 5, 2003.

She is survived by one daughter, Bette (and Larry) Steffens of Lincoln; two sons, Dale (and Solange) Davis of Illiopolis and Darrel (and Darla) Davis of Lincoln; nine grandchildren and three stepgrandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one brother, Dwain (and Leatha) Marten of Chesnut.

She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Mount Pulaski and the sewing circle at the church. She was also a member of the Farm Bureau Women's Committee and Chester Home Bureau.

She was a 4-H leader for 25 years and co-superintendent at 4-H shows at the Logan County Fair.

Memorials may be made to Mount Pulaski EMS or Mount Pulaski Zion Lutheran School.
