Alpha Peters

MOUNT PULASKI - Alpha M. Peters, 96, of Starkville, Miss., formerly of Mount Pulaski, died Thursday, Sept. 20, 2007, at her home.  Mrs. Peters and her husband owned and operated Peters Meat Packing Co. in Springfield until they retired.  She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the American Business Women's Association, and the Newcomers Club, all in Starkville.
   She was born Aug. 19, 1911, in Morrisonville, a daughter of Patrick and Margaret Sheedy Carey.  She married Norman E. Peters on Oct. 8, 1934.  He died on March 11, 1963.  Survivors include one daughter, Marimarlene Clay of College Station, Texas; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.  A son also preceded her in death. 
   Mrs. Peter's graveside service was at 11 am, today, at Calvary Cemetery in Springfield with the Rev. Richard Chiola officiating.  Memorials may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, North Texas Chapter, 8111 LBJ Freeway, Suite 425, Dallas Tx. 75251.  Online condolences may be left for the family at www.butlerfuneralhomes.com.
   Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, Springfield, is in charge of arrangements.
