BEASON -- John "Daniel" Davis, 66, of Beason died Saturday, Jan. 14, 2006, at 10 p.m. at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

 

A memorial service was at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Elkhart Christian Church, Elkhart, with Bob Twist officiating.

There was no visitation.

Burial, with military rites, will be at a later date at Elkhart Cemetery, Elkhart.

Arrangements were handled by Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.

Mr. Davis retired from Davis Truck Service after 25 years of service.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran.

He was born July 28, 1939, in Springfield to John Delmar and Thelma Vivian Johnson Davis. He married Phyllis May Halladay on Nov. 2, 1963, at Elkhart.

He is survived by his wife, of Lincoln; his mother, of Elkhart; one son, Cheston (and wife Lizbeth) Davis of Villa Grove; two daughters, Melinda (and Marvin) Soelle of Weyerhaeuser, Wis., and Angela (and Dustin) Pitts of Beason; three brothers, Roger (and Mary Lou) Davis of Pennsylvania, Carl (and Elizabeth Kay) Davis of Elkhart and Brad (and Debbie) Davis of Chadwick; two sisters, Sue Roush of Industry and Sheryl (and Stephen) Deckro of Morrison; and five grandchildren, Ashley Kate Polk, Chelsea Elaine Pitts, Jonathan Earl Soelle, Ryan Lance Pitts and Isidora B. Davis.

 

He was preceded in death by his father; one brother, Tony William Davis; and one grandson, Jeremy Soelle.

He was a member of the Elkhart Christian Church.

Memorials may be made to the church or the American Cancer Society.
