Obituary – Bowers

Maxine Bowers, 91, of Port St. Lucie , Florida , died April 19, 2005 , from complications from Alzheimer's Disease.

She was born February 17, 1914 , in Mt. Pulaski to James and Myrtle Cowan.  She married Glenn Curtis Bowers on August 8, 1936 .

She is survived by a son, Ian Bowers of Princeton , New Jersey and a brother, Ferris Cowan of Chestnut, Illinois .

Maxine lived a long and happy life.  For those who knew her, she was good-humored, independent and lived her life as she wished.  Between 1936 and 1941, Maxine and Glenn lived in Decatur, Chicago and the island of St. Lucia .  In 1941 Maxine returned to Mt. Pulaski and spent the war years farming with her parents and her brothers. 

Maxine and Glenn lived in Mt. Pulaski until 1964 when they moved to Washington , D.C. and worked for the government until retirement in 1975. After retiring they moved to Port St. Lucie , Florida .  After Glenn's death in 1977 Maxine remained in their house until last year when she required special care.

There will be a memorial service at Steenbergen Cemetery on June 18th at 11am where her ashes will be buried beside her husband Glenn and his parents, George and Frances Bowers.
