She was born in
Mt.
Pulaski
on
February
19, 1919
.
Doris
attended the
Mt.
Pulaski
schools and graduated in 1936. She was secretary and bookkeeper at the
Mt.
Pulaski
Grade
School
and the local Board of Education from 1957 to 1970; and was secretary to
the Superintendent of Schools in Antigo,
Wisconsin
from 1970 to 1974. On moving back to
Lincoln
,
she worked at the Illinois Driver's License Facility unti1 1983.
She
enjoyed bowling, dancing to Big Band music and community and school
activities.
Doris
and Lloyd M. Berg were married on
April
17, 1938
.
Lloyd preceded her in death
March
18, 1981
.
Grandson Erich Berg also preceded her in death on
February
12, 2001
.
Two sons survive her, Michael of Olympia, Washington and James of
Cheney, Washington, also grandson Jason Berg and great-grandchildren
Austin and Jordan Berg.
Doris
requested cremation, with burial and memorial service in
Mt.
Pulaski
.
Arrangements for the services - held in late July - were made by Fricke-Calvert-Schrader
Funeral Home. It was her wish that, in lieu of flowers, memorial
donations be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
