CHESTNUT -- H. Edward Morris, 76, of Chestnut died Thursday, Oct. 27, 2005, at 10:38 a.m. at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital, Lincoln.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mount Pulaski. His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with Bill Shanle officiating.

Burial, with military rites, will be in Laenna Cemetery.

Mr. Morris worked at Caterpillar's gauge lab in Decatur.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He was born June 12, 1929, in Decatur to Howard and Estella Miller Morris. He married Doris Fulscher in Middletown on Nov. 11, 1955.

He is survived by his wife, of Chestnut; one daughter, Debbi Karrick of Lincoln (and husband Dennis of Chestnut); one sister, Edith (and Jim) Geary of Lincoln; and one grandson, Dale Karrick (and Melissa Sutton) of Bloomington.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister.

He was a member of the Chestnut Methodist Church, Mount Pulaski American Legion 447, Mount Pulaski Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Chestnut-Beason Men's Clubs. He was a member of the Chestnut Volunteer Fire Department for 47 years.

He was an avid sports fan and kept the clock for the Mount Pulaski volleyball team and Mount Pulaski Grade School basketball.

Memorials may be made to the Mount Pulaski High School Athletic Association, American Cancer Society, American Heart Association or Chestnut Volunteer Fire Department.
