In a painting based on vivid news accounts
of the day, artist Jennifer Boeke has
captured stories within the story by the
details in this lively historical
remembrance marked by groupings of people.
The square was packed much like the recent
presidential inauguration in Washington.
There were even people watching from the
trees.
The painting was commissioned with a
grant attained through Main Street Lincoln
and combines the efforts of the Lincoln
Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Commission and
Looking for Lincoln.
The new "Lincoln in Lincoln" painting is
part of commemorating our connection to
Abraham Lincoln. Wanda Lee Rohlfs, Main
Street Lincoln executive director, told last
night's audience that the Illinois Lincoln
Bicentennial project "consecrates what we
have in the city of Lincoln and the county
of Logan."

Bicentennial celebration
